Are you a web 2.0 entrepeneur?

FAQ

When is the application deadline? How do I apply and what's the overall timeline?

> The application deadline for the Web 2.0 ii Interface & Innovation start-ups entrepeneur submission is November 15th 2009.

> Summarise to meet the criteria. Send your entries to innovation@web2events.com.

What else do I need to do before the event?

> If selected from the short-list you will be asked to submit a 1-2 minute video presentation on your business idea. This will form a part of the event's pre publicity and coverage. It will introduce your product to the conference attendees before the event.

I'm concerned that if I apply, you won't protect my intellectual property. Should I be worried about this?

> The premise of the event is to create a platform to present your idea. We are not asking to know lines of code or, the secret "X" factor.

You present to us what you hope to achieve and as long as you can demonstrate this with your prototype, this is sufficient.

How do you make a decision who will be invited to the event?

> During the selection process your application will be handled by two members of staff who will not pass this information outside the company.

Once we have a number of shortlisted entries these will be passed in confidence to angel investors/venture capitalists who will pre-vet the shortlist.

From this discussion we will invite 6 entries to the event.

Do you have an non disclosure agreement / NDAs?

> As the best ideas will be presented to a public audience, we will not sign an non-disclosure agreement.

You understand that by submitting your business idea it will later be presented publically, for this reason we will do not accept NDAs.

Will my age be a factor in the selection process?

> No, indeed many young business entrepenuers receive publicity for their young age. Still, we believe there needs to be some business acumen from at least second jobbers that make for more rounded business savvy companies!

Do I need to send in a full business plan?

> No. We are asking for condensed information.

How much do I get?

> You will receive 5000 EUR in adwords no matter how many employees you have.

You will receive coverage and networking possibilities at the event, even if you do not succeed in securing the funding.

What is the People's Award?

> At the event we will host live voting from all attendees. The winner with the most votes will receive recognition at the event.

The people's award might be given to the angel investor/venture capital nominated winner. We cannot guarantee there will be two seperate awards for two companies.

What sorts of companies qualify for presenting at the event and securing funding?

> We accept applications from web 2.0 technology oriented companies. We are looking for companies that can have at least a European or worldwide reach. We will not accept applications from consultancies or other local service oriented companies.

Why are you making this behind the program and why are you doing this?

> Our company is a start-up and we are hoping to promote innovators within Europe to create a unique product!

What else do I get from the angel investors/venture capital?

> You will receive support with any joint publicity post-event. Usually coaching comes from the capitalist. We would like you to come back in one year to present how you got on.

What if my idea/company doesn't succeed?

> After you receive the start-up funding further capital and dealings will be communicated by the angel investors/venture capitalist and ourselves. You will receive 5000 EUR in adwords from ourselves.

I'm am a sole founder and I am not a developer can I enter?

> Yourself or the co-founder must be a developer.

We must make it clear if you are a great evangelist with no developer nor prototype, it will be very unlikely we wll accept your application.

Does Aries Forth need or want stock in my new company?

> No. Any dealings with stock will be between your company and the angel/VC companies.

I see you are based in Barcelona, do I have to move there after receiving the award?

> No, you stay where you are!

Can I apply if I am not from Europe?

> Yes, but your company must have its headquarters in Europe.
